As chairman of the Tyrone GAA County Board Committee, it gives me great pleasure to write a few words by way of welcoming this excellent pictorial and poetic publication to commemorate the visit of the Sam Maguire cup to the historic county of Tyrone.

I congratulate the authors Frank Quinn and Kathleen Burns on completion of a truly unique piece of work, which brought them to every corner of County Tyrone to bring to life our National Heritage and uncover some of Tyrone’s hidden jewels.

Readers, young and old will truly enjoy this journey.  Compilation of such a comprehensive gallery of photographs and anecdotal material involved a significant amount of time and travel by the authors.

Frank and Kathleen are to be commended for their professionalism and research in bringing to life our heritage for the benefit of current and future generations.

This book will also be of immense benefit to tourists visiting Tyrone.
